What a difference a day makes! And a nap for that matter. Our day 15 was such a huge improvement from the days prior! We had a mini meltdown at breakfast, but for the most part, he was really good today. Aaron was thrilled to finally have his matching father/son jerseys so he could get the photo below. We came back upstairs to start getting ready and Ty was having a rough time, so I had him to lay down with me on the bed to drink his bottle. Within about a minute, he was sound asleep which was good because we had a whole lot of packing to do. 45 minutes later, we had a brand new kid. He was laughing, having a good time playing with balloons, and was even helping us pack up our things. He loved climbing in and on the luggage and pretending that it was a motorcycle. I swear, every boy is made with sound effects and this one is no different. We warmed up our pizza from the night before and he did great snacking and feeding himself. I was dreading the packing and it couldn’t have gone any better.
Aaron left around 2:00 to go pick up the visa while stayed at the hotel, and again, Ty was great! We had to check out of our room as Aaron left, so we spent our time walking around the courtyard and playing with blocks (he’s actually playing with his toys – whaa hoo). Aaron returned earlier than expected with the visas, so we were technically all set to leave the country – other than the fact that our flights aren’t for a few more days. Instead, we all loaded up in a van to head to the ocean. Ty loves being in any kind of moving vehicle and chats the whole way – I assume about what is around us, but really have no idea. We tend to just nod our heads and smile. He has picked up a few really cute things – 1. I was rubbing his knee with my fingers on the trip and he proceeded to do the same to me. 2. We give him a thumbs up and he gets really excited and tries to do it on his own, but it is with his index finger rather than his thumb. 3. We got kisses today for the first time. 4. He loves to pat us on the arm or leg and point to whatever is exciting to him. 5. The trip was about 3 hours and he did really well, but towards the end, he got really tired and would just kind of slump into our laps… adorable.
We arrived much later than we were hoping at this hotel, but it is incredible, and wonderful, and good for my heart – just being near the ocean. We thought we would have a beach for Ty to play at here, but the tide is so high that there isn’t one. The ocean has been pretty powerful and we are about 20 feet away in our own little room and you can feel the room shake at times because of the waves crashing. It’s fantastic. The kiddo was basically asleep when we arrived, so we put his pj’s on and he was out. Thankfully, we have a huge window seat here and that is where he is sleeping (on his own!). Aaron and I ordered room service and just sat on the front porch in our rocking chairs, listening to the waves crash and the pool water trickling less than 10 feet away. It’s magical here. We give it a #1 recommendation for a honeymoon spot. Not quite as romantic with a 2 year old, but we’re pretty thrilled, nonetheless.
We are FREE!! No more social workers or official appointments. His visa is ours and the only thing we have left on our schedule is a flight home. This is such a wonderful place to be!
