Hi! I am Jandie and I’m the planner, sometimes writer, and all around do-er of things behind the scenes here. My words tend to come out better through my fingers than my lips. If you really want to get to know my heart, you’ll find that I express it more clearly when I have time to process and write.
I met my husband at the age of 17 as a high school senior and he was 5 years older. You can only imagine how that went over with my parents. Without the ability to date or call each other, my parents gave us the best tool… written words. We got to know each other’s hearts via letters, email, and messaging. We were married a couple of months before my 20th birthday and I’m so thankful that I’ve been able to share more than half of my life with my best friend.
I am queen of the introverts (as long as that title doesn’t force me to give a speech, ‘cause that isn’t going to happen).
My favorite place is a sheep field in Chipping Campden, England. Preferably chilly with a fine rain to add to the atmosphere.
I am a lover of tacos and M&M’s. Both border on an addiction level.
I’m indoor-sy. It’s like outdoorsy, but the opposite. A rainy day and a good book is perfection to me.
One of my favorite things in the world is tearing in to rooms in our 100 year old home and creating beautiful new spaces with my own hands.
I am “Mom” to two beautiful kiddos from Thailand. From the time I was a little girl, I had this picture in my head of what my family would look like and it is exactly as I had imagined it. My idea of motherhood couldn’t have been more off. Mom-dom isn’t something that has come easily for me, but I adore these people and am so thankful that I get to take part in raising the beautiful souls that have been granted to me.
A little about Aaron
He is the creative genius and understander of all things technically related around here. If you want to get to know his heart, ask. He will gladly and freely share anything and everything you’d like to know. He pours himself into others well and he is so happy to give of his time and energy to help whenever he can.
He rules as king of the extroverts and would be so comfortable giving a speech about it.
His favorite place is Paris. We live in a tiny town, but would happily call Paris “home”.
His favorite snack involves something spicy paired with a Monster.
He’s outdoorsy in every sense of the word. Pick any outdoor activity and he’s thrilled to participate, ideally with other people.
His favorite thing in the world is disc golf. It’s a hobby that he picked up less than a year ago (moving his affection from his beloved table tennis) and he tries to get a round or two in every day.
He is the best dad in the world to our kids. Fatherhood has come naturally and easily for him and he is brilliant at loving, leading, caring, providing for, encouraging, teaching, and having fun with our people.
Us
If you’ve read the above, you will realize that at a surface level, Aaron and I don’t have a lot in common. But, the things that we share matter so much more than the sum of all of those things. Our faith, desire to pursue Christ together, family values, heart for adoption, and dreams have given us a foundation that allows all of those differences to become complementary pieces to the other.
Together, we love to dream, especially about travel (this year has been rooooooouuuugh). Some of our favorite days together have been spent meeting our kids in Thailand, cruising the Caribbean, exploring cathedrals in Paris, talking long walks through London, stumbling upon ruins in sheep fields in Scotland, and discovering what architectural secrets places hold for us to capture with our cameras.
From the moment that we met, our relationship has been marked by a love of cameras and documenting life through capturing our stories together.
Being able to capture these stories drives us… to tell them creatively and beautifully fills our souls.
We are humbled and grateful for the opportunities that we have had and for the people that we get to share life with. The idea that we get to come home and relive those precious memories over and over again is something that we absolutely cherish. Home movie nights are a staple in our household and we love piling on to the couch with the people we love to relive our favorite memories.
We hope that through our experiences and sharing some of those things that we love, we can give you the tools you need to tell your stories well… both the eventful and the everyday.
Through the next few months, we are going to be striving to create content in a structured and comprehensive way to give you the confidence you need to move forward with capturing your story. Please be sure to subscribe, check back often, and tell us about the stories that you can’t wait to capture and share!
I loved reading this and discovering a bit more about you both – so well expressed! I feel like I know you now 🙂 Maybe one day we’ll meet in person?! x
Thank you and I really hope we can meet someday! If our travel plans ever get to happen, I’m hoping to add an extra stop to come visit!
