Sharing is caring!

Good morning from Thailand! We made it to our destination along with our luggage, which to me is almost as important as us getting here. 🙂 Leg two of our adoption travel is complete!

I left you yesterday at the Incheon Airport which was fantastic. We had a 3 hour layover which was maybe too much time? I didn’t mind having the extra time to blog, catch up with home, and just not be on an airplane. By the time our second flight rolled around, I felt horrible. I got on the plane and had the worst sneezing fit, my eyes were watering, and my whole face itched. Yay for allergies. Needless to say, Benedryl is a life saver between its magical abilities to both conquer my allergy symptoms and knock me out for a couple of hours. I was back to my old self long enough to eat a meal, do some Thai language reminders, and rest before landing in Bangkok.

It is completely surreal being back here. We pulled into the terminal that I’m fairly sure we flew out of with Ty. All of these memories came flooding back of that evening at the airport with him, like playing tag around these giant speakers that sit in the middle of the floors. We got through passport control, grabbed our bags, found the atm, and went through customs like we were pros. 🙂 The first time around, every inch of this was culture shock and intimidating, this time just feels so very normal.

Rather than get a hotel shuttle (3x the cost and who wants to worry about finding the right person to get you to where you need to be?), we opted for a city taxi. The driver was overwhelmed by the luggage we had, but it all fit and were speeding off down the streets of Bangkok before we knew it (like 60 mph in the city). Everything felt familiar – so much so that we realized when our taxi driver missed the turn into our hotel. He just laughed, apologized, and said something in Thai.

We pulled up to the Pantip and it felt like we had never left. The lobby was dark and quiet, except for us and the guy who brought our luggage to our room. Nothing has really changed, except our friends from our first trip aren’t here to share this all with. We feel their absence more than anything right now.

The travel for this adoption was 30.5 hours from our door at home to our hotel room. Not bad considering the fact that we just traveled half way around the world. We are on the 25th floor and our room is similar to the one we had when we met Ty. It’s just backwards and feels a little smaller. I’m wondering if that is just because we remember our time here through our photos and videos. We did a little unpacking last night, took some meds to help us sleep, and woke up this morning rested with about 7 hours of sleep. I already can’t wait for sleep tonight though. 🙂

Aaron is down at the pool swimming laps, which you can see straight down from our room. I’m off to settle in, wrap gifts, and then hopefully go grab some fantastic Thai food for lunch.

Tools to document your day…

We are still living off an airplane at this point for our adoption travel. The same gear is still easily accessible in our camera backpack. Technology changes quickly, so we’ll try to keep you up-to-date with what is currently in our camera bag and the tools we are now using to document travel.
